College: Brister played three years of indoor volleyball at Northwestern State in Louisiana. She was the fifth person in conference history to be named the league's Freshman of the Year and the Player of the Year, which she won as a junior. That season she set the school single season record for kills (539) and set a match record with 87 attempts. Nationally Brister ranked in the top 20 in kills (11th) and points (18th). Despite playing just three years at the school, she left the program ranked fifth in career kills (1,122) and tied for seventh in hitting percentage (.237). Brister then played two years of indoor volleyball at LSU.
Personal: Both of Brister's parents (Scottie and Shane) were athletes at Southeastern University, with her father playing baseball and her mother playing volleyball. She has one brother, Ethan. Brister's high school team was twice the state runner-up.
