College: Russo played beach volleyball at Hawai'i-Manoa. As a freshman she went 18-12 on court five, then played in exhibition matches in the 2020 season. As a sophomore she went 16-5 on court five, including winning 12 of the final 14 matches,, and had the best win percentage of any tandem at the school. In her junior season she went 23-16, mostly on courts four and five, and recorded eight wins over ranked opponents. Playing with Anna Maidmen as a sophomore and junior, the tandem set the career mark for wins as a pair at the school.
Personal: Russo has a younger sister, Lina, who played indoors at Rowan College and beach volleyball at St. Leo's University. Russo was the Valedictorian of her high school class.
