Beach Bits: • Lotman has advanced to eight semifinals on the AVP Tour (including Tour Series) and seven of those have come with Miles Partain. 2025: Lotman played six AVP
events with five different partners. He finished ninth in the season
opener with Tim Bomgren, then lost in the qualifiers in Tour Series
events with Adam Roberts and William Price. In a Tour Series event in
Denver Lotman and Billy Allen placed third, then that duo finished ninth
in Manhattan Beach. Lotman closed the year with a fifth in a Tour
Series event with Timothy Brewster. 2024: Lotman
and Billy Allen played three AVP tournaments together, with two fifths
and a seventh. The duo competed for the Austin Aces in the inaugural
season of the AVP League, ending with a 3-5 match record. 2023: Lotman
had a best of fifth in his seven AVP events. His first two came with
Silila Tucker, getting a ninth and a fifth. Then Lotman played five
times with Tim Bomgren, getting two sevenths followed by three ninths.
Lotman lost in both World Tour qualifiers he played, once with Troy
Field and once with Kyle Friend. 2022: Played
10 AVP events starting with a ninth alongside Skylar del Sol. Lotman
then teamed with Miles Partain for eight events, getting four straight
thirds before winning in Atlanta. They had two fifths and a second, then
Lotman ended the AVP season with Evan Cory on the Tour Series,
finishing in seventh place. Internationally Lotman and Taylor Crabb
played in two qualifiers in Challenge events, getting a fifth and then a
third. Lotman and Miles Evans placed fourth in an Elite event. 2021: Lotman
advanced from an AVP qualifier with Kyle Friend, placing ninth. He then
played two AVP tournaments with Miles Partain, with a best of third in
Chicago after advancing from the qualifier. 2020: Did not compete. 2019: Played five AVP tournaments with Gabriel
Ospina-Rodriguez with a best of ninth in Austin after advancing from
the qualifier as the 25th seed and then defeating top-seeded Taylor
Crabb and Jake Gibb in the first round, becoming just the third AVP team
seeded 16th in a main draw to upset a number one seed. In his other
three tournaments, played with three different partners, he had a best
of fifth with Miles Partain. Lotman and Partain also won a gold in a
NORCECA tournament. 2018: Played six AVP
qualifiers with five different partners, including twice with Miles
Partain. He advanced from the qualifier in Hermosa Beach with Dave
McKienzie and finished 17th. 2017: Lotman
transitioned from indoor to beach volleyball and played seven AVP
tournaments with three different partners. He lost in the qualifier in
his first five events, four with Alejandro Parra and one with Myles
Muagututia. In the fifth event he was eliminated by Gabriel
Ospina-Rodriguez, then partnered with him for the last two events and
advanced from the qualifier in both, finishing 17th in both Manhattan
Beach and Chicago. The duo also placed third in a domestic event after
advancing from the qualifier.
Olympics: Lotman placed fifth in the 2012 Olympics with the indoor team, and was an alternate for the 2016 Olympic Team.
College:
As a junior at Long Beach State, Lotman led the team in kills, digs and
aces, and finished tied for ninth in the country in kills per game. As a
senior he was named 2008 AVCA Co-Player of the Year after leading LBSU
to the NCAA Championship semifinals. Lotman ended his career with 1,408 kills and 135 aces.
Personal: Lotman is the youngest of four siblings, Mark, Steven and Shelley. He was named to the Orange County all-star team as a senior in high school, when he logged over 500 kills. Following college graduation he played professional volleyball in Puerto Rico, Greece, France, Italy, Poland, Germany, Indonesia and India. He married his wife Jasmine in August 2011 and they have three kids, Leif, Lane, and Link.
